When a Sketch Said What I Couldn’t – My MBA Final Year Story

When a Sketch Said What I Couldn’t – My MBA Final Year Story *By Kunal Malhotra* Final year of MBA is supposed to be about placements, projects, presentations, and pressure. For me, it was all of that… but it was also about feelings I didn’t know how to express. I still remember those days clearly. Classes during the day, group discussions in the evening, and late-night overthinking about career and life. But somewhere between case studies and campus interviews, my heart was quietly writing its own story. There was someone special. I was not the kind of person who could easily say “I like you” directly. I would think a hundred times before sending even a simple message. I was scared of losing the bond, scared of rejection, and maybe scared of my own emotions. One day, instead of typing long paragraphs on WhatsApp, I picked up a pencil. I decided to make a sketch for her. It wasn’t perfect. I am not a professional artist. My hands were shaking while drawing. I erased lines again and again. But with every stroke, I was putting my feelings on paper. It was not just a sketch of her face; it was a sketch of how I saw her — simple, strong, beautiful in her own way. That paper carried everything I couldn’t say in words. When I completed it, I kept looking at it for a long time. I was nervous. Should I give it to her? What if she doesn’t like it? What if she misunderstands me? My mind was full of questions, but my heart was calm for the first time. Because I knew one thing — this was honest. In MBA, we learn about strategy, management, leadership, and risk-taking. That day, I learned something more important: expressing your feelings is also a kind of courage. Whether the result is yes or no, at least you are real. That sketch taught me that love is not always about grand gestures. Sometimes, it’s about small efforts. A simple drawing. A silent message. A pure intention. Today, when I look back at my MBA final year, I don’t just remember exams or placements. I remember that sketch. I remember that version of me — nervous but genuine. And I’m proud of that boy. Because he chose to express, not suppress. — Kunal Malhotra*

Soulmate

# The Truth About a Soulmate *By Kunal Malhotra* We grow up hearing the word *soulmate* in movies, songs, and love stories. It sounds magical — like there is one person in this entire universe made just for us. Someone who understands our silence, feels our pain without explanation, and stands beside us no matter what. But what really is a soulmate? For me, a soulmate is not just about romance. It is not only about butterflies, late-night calls, or dreamy promises. A soulmate is someone whose presence feels like home. With them, you don’t need to pretend. You don’t need to impress. You don’t need to act stronger or smarter than you are. You can simply *be*. A soulmate connection feels different. It is calm yet intense. Comfortable yet exciting. It is when conversations flow naturally, and even silence feels meaningful. It is when you care about their happiness as much as your own. When their pain affects you. When their smile becomes your peace. Many people think a soulmate relationship will be perfect — no fights, no misunderstandings, no distance. But I believe a true soulmate is not someone who avoids storms with you; it is someone who chooses to stand with you during them. Love is not about perfection. It is about patience, understanding, and growth together. Sometimes we meet someone who changes us. They make us more mature, more emotionally aware, more serious about life. They make us want to become better — not because they demand it, but because their presence inspires it. That, to me, feels like a soulmate connection. But here is something important I’ve realized: before finding a soulmate outside, we must become one for ourselves. We must learn to love ourselves, trust ourselves, and respect our own journey. Because when we are emotionally complete, we attract someone who complements us — not someone who completes us. A soulmate is not someone who fills your emptiness. A soulmate is someone who walks beside your fullness. And maybe, just maybe, the universe doesn’t send soulmates to make life easy. It sends them to make life meaningful. — *Kunal Malhotra*

This is where maximum number of tourists visit. These beaches are usually crowded on tourist season (super crowded on long weekends). However, there are plenty of activities, cafes, places to stay. Expect to pay tourist price for everything. North Goa: Beyong Baga, there are beautiful beaches at the wee end of the north. Consider Arambol, Ashwem, Mandrem. They remain pristine and away from the hawk eye of vendors. South Goa: Away from everything, South Goa holds the true secret of freedom, which gave Goa its fare share of fame. beaches, forts, hikes and plenty of unexplored regions lies here. If you seek quaint, you must visit South Goa! Panaji: The capital of Goa, houses only a couple of local beaches. Panaji is where you will be heading if you are in Goa for work. Despite a lack of beach life, Panaji is famous for old Latin quarters, UNESCO heritage churches and vibrant local life.Goa also houses India’s only casino ships close to its shoreline. Since gambling is prohibited on Indian land, these casino ships are permanently anchored on the sea. They ensure even the rough waves of monsoon very well. I visited Deltin Royal Cruise on the fateful night of Cyclone Kyarr and did not feel a thing. The next morning, the fallen coconut trees of the Ashwem beach narrated the story. Anyway, experiencing a cruise liner is a prized deal. The ship has various games on-board and forms of entertainment aside a large buffet. Sparkling goblets of wine galore everywhere. I did not find the food amusing though. If you like to party the night away, the Cruise liners of Goa will be your best choice How To Reach Goa By Air Being a popular tourist destination and an unwinding spot, Goa is well connected to all the major cities in the country by air. You can avail regular flights to this tropical paradise from cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi and Chennai. However, the fastest way to reach Goa is to take a flight from Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai which takes approximately an hour to reach. The Dabolim Airport in Goa is located around 26 kilometres from its capital city; Panaji. As the tourist season arrives, this aerodrome also receives international flights even though it is mainly served by domestic airlines. The airport also provides currency exchange, prepaid taxi counter and ATMs along with the basic amenities. To keep you busy as you await your flight, the airport also has food joints and shopping centres within its premises. People travelling internationally usually fly into major cities such as Delhi and Mumbai and then transit into a domestic flight with airlines such as Jet Airways, IndiGo, SpiceJet or Air India. There are also a few Russian, German and British charter companies that offer direct flights to the Dabolim Airport during the months of November to February. It would be advisable to book your tickets well in advance, especially if you are travelling in the peak season. Goa is packed during the summer and the New Year season. Hence, make sure you book your tickets and accommodation well before time to get cheap deals. Air India is identified as the national carrier and also the safest airline to the destination. However, one can choose between any of the following airlines to travel to Goa - Jet Airways, SpiceJet, IndiGo and Vistara. Upon arrival, individuals can avail of the bus taxi or hotel shuttle to reach their required destination. How To Reach Goa By Railways! The long Konkan Railway deemed to be 760 kilometres stretches all the way from Mumbai to the north and Mangalore to the south. However, Margao’s Madgaon Railway Station is the biggest station and strongly linked to other parts of the country through a vast train network. Regular trains run from Delhi to Madgaon, the important ones being Goa Sampark Kranti Express and Trivandrum Express. The Madgaon Railway Station is located approximately 38 kilometres from the capital city. Another railway station is the Vasco da Gama station that is 29 kilometres away. Taxis will be available as soon as you make your way out of the station. The rail is a rather inexpensive way to travel and you will reach your destination in approximately six hours and 24 minutes. With the main railway station being in Madgaon, which is North Goa; try to take a train that stops at Thivim if you plan to travel to the North Goa beaches like Anjuna, Baga, Calangute, etc. Travelling to Goa by train is a treat to one’s eyes as the scenic locations and lush green trees whiz past you. The fastest route however from Mumbai is via National Highway 4, which takes you from the Mumbai – Pune Expressway to Belgaum and then to Goa. State and private buses also run to and from Goa to various cities such as Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru and Hampi. However, we suggest you take the train instead of the bus because of the unpredictable traffic. Those, who are all into leisure, for example, may look for a place to relax, a beachside resort, when travelling someplace in South India. But you also want to live that experience, that vibe, that the place you’re visiting is popular for.A big sightseeing day today. Up early and set off to Kanyakumari - the sourthernmost tip of India after enjoying an Indian breakfast of egg curry and noodles (a kerala special).A brief overview of what we saw (I wont bore you with the detail - you'll have to put up with the photos when we get back!!!). We started off at Padmanabhapuram palace, on to Suchindram temple and then Kanyakumari. Things that stood out for me in the course of the day were:- Indian visitors get charged rs25 to visit the palace - 'foreign tourists' get charged rs200 - bit of a rip off me thinks given rough guide says its rs50...My efforts to haggle were to no avail however with the ticket office simply saying 'government change to charges'.. Pete almost refused to go in but given we'd made it there I paid and stomped in - I'm glad we went but I have to say it was nothing special - pete reckons the good stuff (furniture and paintings etcI have to say that i was disappointed that I couldnt see where the 3 seas met - I dont know what I expected really - there was never going to be a big sign was there! It was a long day of sightseeing then back to our hotel which is brilliant - staff are attentive and have good senses of humour (or perhaps I just think they're funny when they're trying to be really professional about things)- its filling up now as well so the season here is starting. We're heading back to Varkala tomorrow - I wonder how many of you guesssed that was going to happen - its so peaceful there and we both need a bit more time to chill out before we get on the real tourist trail! I've just started to be able to stop thinking about work - its actually been harder than I thought!

Lakshadweep and its beauty

Lakshadweep is in the news everywhere as our PM Narendra Modi himself promoted the tourism of our own country India and invited many other people of coutry to see beauty of our country .Lakshadweep is consider better than Maldives.Though the Lakshadweep archipelago may appear as a few insignificant dots on the map of India, it is, in fact, a sparkling diamond- and emerald-studded jewel adorning India’s southwestern frontier. It is one of the few marvels left untouched by the encroaching hands of industrialization and progress. The white beaches, the lagoons that wash its shores with the coral reefs which enclose it, and finally the deep blue sea-all these are symbiotically linked with each other. And, when all these are added up, Lakshadweep is no longer the tiniest of India’s territories but the largest!Location While the total area of the 35 islands is a mere 32 sq km and the area of the lagoons enclosed by the coral reef about 700 sq km, the extended sea zone is more than 7,00,000 sq km! This almost makes it the size of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh put together! Out of the 12 atolls with 35 islands, only one island in each of them is inhabited. All the islands are shaped like a boat with their backs resting on the reef in the east and lagoons washing their shores on the west side. The lagoons are shallow, never more than a couple of meters deep. Just as the sands on the beaches are pure white and sugary, the waters of the lagoons are crystal clear and clean. Best Time to Visit The white sandy coastlines, abundant scenic charm and tranquil surroundings make Lakshadweep a popular family as well as honeymooning destination. It is visited by tourists from all around the globe. The best time to visit Lakshadweep is between the months of September and May, when the weather is pleasant and conducive for water sports activities. The temperature remains between 22°C to 36°C and one can partake in adventures like surfing, swimming, canoeing, snorkeling, scuba diving, water skiing, kayaking and so on. After the summer months, monsoon rains between June and August, make the place even greener. The flight from Cochin to Agatti takes approximately one hour and thirty minutes.Six passenger ships - MV Kavaratti, MV Arabian Sea, MV Lakshadweep Sea, MV Lagoons and MV Corals operate between Cochin and Lakshadweep. The passage takes 14 to 18 hours depending on island chosen for journey. The ships offer different classes of accommodation: A/C First Class with two berth cabins, A/C Secound Class with four berth cabins. A doctor is available on call on board. PORTS provide comfortable A/C & Non A/C accommodation in the islands and onboard the ships. The tourist cottages in the islands are clean and well maintained. For certain packages like Samudram, overnight accommodation is provided on board the ship. The tourists cottages in the islands are built on the beach front and provide a breath taking lagoon view. Food provided is hygienic and wholesome. During day visits to islands, food is served ashore.
